Cloud9 eliminate MIBR from cs

The 'Colossus' survived a tough series against the Brazilians and will face fnatic on Saturday.

Cloud9 secured the last cs_summit 7 playoff spot as they beat MIBR 2-1 in the last-chance stage. The 'Colossus' put up a flawless defensive performance on Overpass to recover from a 13-2 deficit before the Brazilians responded on Vertigo to level the series. The final map, Inferno, was a one-sided affair as Cloud9 made light work of their opponents to set up a quarter-final match against fnatic, who are still undefeated in the tournament.

ALEX' calls and frags saved Cloud9 on Overpass

MIBR had a remarkable start to the series and managed to win eight rounds in a row after constantly changing their setups and going for aggressive plays. They conceded only two rounds throughout the entire half and seemed to be in a comfortable position heading into the second half. They were, however,
absolutely dismantled by Cloud9's defense. The European team went all the way from 2-13 to 16-13 and the rounds weren't even close, apart from one in which Gustavo "⁠yel⁠" Knittel killed three players on the A bombsite and lost a 1v1 clutch to Ricky "⁠floppy⁠" Kemery. Alex "⁠ALEX⁠" McMeekin had great impact with the AWP and finished the map with 25 kills.

The Brazilians surprisingly bounced back after the blunder on Overpass and displayed a great T side on their map pick of Vertigo, putting Cloud9 against the ropes once more as they went up 11-4. They almost let the lead slip as the 'Colossus' put up a good fight in the second half, but they worked well as a unit to close it 16-12.

Cloud9 had a solid start for the first time in the series on Inferno, a map where they have struggled in recent times. floppy led the charge (2.00 rating) as the team picked up 12 rounds on the T side. MIBR still attempted a response after losing the pistol round, but Cloud9 eventually managed to close the series thanks to William "⁠mezii⁠" Merriman, who racked up nine kills in the three rifle rounds that they won.
